Acidic copper plating in the gravure printing field is different from ordinary hardware copper plating, with very high requirements for functionality, leveling, adhesion, and mechanical properties. In the daily process maintenance, simply analyzing the content of copper sulfate, sulfuric acid, and chloride ions is far from meeting control requirements, as the amount and ratio of additives are more important for electroplating quality. Moreover, due to the complex composition of acid copper additives, the consumption pathways of each component vary, and the factors controlling consumption are numerous, making the control of electroplating quality very difficult. In the plate-making industry, copper plating quality issues have always been a challenge for enterprise development.
After two years of effort, our company has achieved gratifying results in analyzing gravure electroplating faults through telephone learning workstations. Different additive contents and ratios have an impact on the electrochemical curves of electrodes, cyclic voltammetry characteristics, plating solution AC impedance, IT curves, etc. We have summarized the electrochemical characteristics of electroplating faults such as electro-engraving needle injection, copper layer peeling, hardness shelf life, and copper plating spots based on these patterns.
As long as customers send the problematic plating solution to our company, we can define the electroplating faults based on the corresponding electrochemical characteristics and make experimental adjustments to reach normal solution levels, providing a complete 'prescription' for the faulty plating solution.
