Maintenance of hard chrome plating process for gravure printing plates
1.Ensure consistent chromium solution concentration
Measure the Baume degree at regular intervals every day, generally the standard is 17-20Be°, while some companies use 20-22Be°. If the standard is not met, new solution should be added in a timely manner, and chromium trioxide should be replenished every 3 days.
2.Use Germanhard chrome plating process VOP-Cr873, the following points should be achieved:
①The working temperature of the solution should be controlled around 60℃.
②The content of metal ions in the solution should not exceed 5g/L.
③When the content of SO42-in the solution is too high, it needs to be precipitated with barium carbonate (BaCO3), and the solution should be stirred sufficiently for more than half an hour.
④When the solution evaporates too much, appropriate amounts of distilled water or deionized water should be added.
3.Remove impurities from the hard chrome plating solution
The impurities that affect the quality of the chrome layer are mainly copper ions and chloride ions. The source of copper is mainly from the immersion of hanging tools and the surface of the rollers. If copper exceeds the standard (>5g/L), the chrome layer in the middle of the roller will turn black, making the roller unusable. Excessive chloride will cause the roller to turn gray or corrode the chrome layer.
Methods to remove impurities from the hard chrome plating solution include electrolysis:
1. Raise trivalent chromium when opening the tank, using high current electrolysis;
2. Remove impurities during production, using low current electrolysis;
3. Use the rapid impurity removal equipment of Mito Company, which employs microfiltration membrane electrolysis technology to remove impurities, effectively improving electrolysis efficiency while minimizing energy consumption, without affecting production during the impurity removal process.
